How much does a cosmetic consultation cost, and what if I already know what procedure I want?
Based on national government and hospital guidelines, every patient is required to have a consultation prior to undergoing a surgical procedure. This allows the surgeon to assess medical history and anesthesia risk as well as discuss potential benefits and potential complications of a desired procedure so the patient may be well informed prior to consenting to proceed with surgery. Our office consultation fee is $100.
How long is a cosmetic consult, and will I receive a quote?
We request that you tell the receptionist what you’d like to be seen for so you can be appropriately scheduled for 30 or 60-minute consultations to allow adequate time. A price quote will be given for all cosmetic procedures, or any not covered by insurance, on the same day as your consultation.
How much does a breast augmentation cost?
Depending on the type of implant used, and provided a breast lift is not also required, the average cost including anesthesia and operating room charges are approximately $7,000.
How long will I be off work following breast augmentation?
Typically a few days.
How much does liposuction cost?
Costs for liposuction vary greatly depending on the location, number of sites and volume being addressed at each site, but start at around $3,850.
How much does an abdominoplasty (tummy tuck) cost?
Tummy tucks come in two varieties: a mini or a full tummy tuck. The mini removes extra tissue below the belly button only and costs roughly $7,500 including anesthesia and operating room. A full abdominoplasty requires extended work, movement of the belly button and will remove tissue up to and above the belly button. It usually costs approximately $10,000 including liposuction to the flanks area.
How long will I be off work following abdominoplasty?
For most sedentary (desk jobs) a minimum of 14 days will be required of time off. No lifting greater than 15 pounds is usually recommended for about six weeks to allow for adequate healing.
Will my insurance ever cover any part of my cosmetic surgery?
As a rule insurance does not cover cosmetic surgery. Occasionally complications of these procedures such as drainage of an infection or blood collections will be covered. Removal of implants without replacement under some circumstances may be covered.
Do you accept payment plans for cosmetic surgery?
All fees for services of the surgeon, supplies such as implants or specialty garments, and the service of anesthesia and operating room time are required to be paid in full prior to the scheduled procedure. This includes all forms of personal payment (cash, check, credit card) or a financing company if one is being utilized. Currently we are participating with M-Lend and Care Credit and patients are able to apply directly from our website. The hospitals do not accept Care Credit.
Do you offer a discount if I have more than one procedure done?
Yes, depending on the number of procedures and the extent of each procedure, a discount is typically figured as part of your cosmetic quote on an individual basis.
What is the difference between Botox and Juvéderm?
Botox is derived from the Botulinum bacteria which releases a substance that produces muscle paralysis. When injected into facial muscles it can prevent skin crease (wrinkles) from appearing or flatten superficial wrinkles that already exist. Juvéderm is formed of Hyaluronic acid—a clear gel-like substance similar to the fluid that lubricates joints in our bodies. It is commonly used to fill deep wrinkles or depressed scars, or enhance volume of lips.
What numbing approach do you use when injecting patients?
With adequate anesthesia, be it a nerve block, local anesthesia, topical anesthesia cream, ice, or a combination of the above, or sometimes no anesthesia at all, pain is not a big factor in the decision making. It is usually well-tolerated.
How soon after my consultation can I have surgery?
Usual time between consult and surgery is a few months. Scheduling varies throughout the year and longer (increased operating room time) procedures must be scheduled farther in advance. Occasional cancellations will allow some surgeries to be moved up to an earlier date.
