Depending on the desired results, fat from other parts of the face may be redistributed to achieve a younger look. After the skin has been repositioned, the skin is re-draped over the new contours of the face. Any excess skin will then be trimmed off.

For those looking to change the appearance of an aging neck, a second incision under the chin may be necessary. After the skin has been repositioned and the excess has been removed, the incisions will be closed with skin adhesives or sutures.

The Recovery

Recovery from a facelift will involve a bandage placed around your face. This bandage ensures less swelling and bruising after the procedure has been completed.

It may take a few months for the swelling to go down before visible improvements and final results can be seen. After a facelift, it’s important to practice smart sun protection, as well as a healthy lifestyle. These steps will ensure your facelift lasts for many years to come.
